Florence Museum Timing and Tickets
 

Staying in Florence from 9/26-29 and staying very near the Duomo. Would love to do Santa Croce, the Uffizi and the David in a day, but in what order?

Many on these forums have said the David has no crowds in the afternoon and Santa Croce is best in the morning.

So perhaps head to Santa Croce after breakfast, walk to the Uffizi for the late morning early afternoon and see the David in the late afternoon?

Also, what is the best way to acquire advanced tickets? Should I call all three museums and book over the phone?

There is no need to buy Santa Croce tickets in advance (if even possible).

I would visit the Uffizi first - it is the biggest and best and you would benefit from feeling fresh. Also it can get a bit stuffy as the day wears on. That, of course, is if you are not going to San Marco to see the Fra Angelicos, which are high on my list of favourites. Then maybe Santa Croce after lunch and the Accademia last as most people go only to see David and it does not take long unless there is a good exhibition there at the same time.

I would strongly second Tarquin, especially on San Marco. It may be closed in the afternoon or like many sites in Italy, for a long lunch. Since it is practically next door to the Accademia, it may influence the time you go there.

San Marco is only open in the mornings.

In my opinion the best way is to reserve ticket for Uffizi and Accademia and visit these to museum in two different days. Cause the Uffizi is very very big and interesting and then you'll can visit Santa Croce that close at 17.00.
The second day you can visit San Marco in early morning and than David at Galleria dell'Accademia.
But Remember to book your visit!!

Since you will be in Florence for several days, I would follow the suggestion to split your museum visits into separate days. Visit the Uffizi first thing in the morning. Then visit Sta. Croce in the afternoon. On another day visit San Marco (a must see) and the Accademia (another must see)- they are close together on Piazza San Marco and do not take long to visit, unlike the Uffizi.
