Florence Italy - Vasari Corridor
 

I am currently on a wait list for a Vasari Corridor Tour on 14 September
2006 in Florence, Italy. They need 10 people for the tour which includes a
guided tour of the Uffizi. Right now they only have 5 and so may cancel the
tour. Their 14 day cutoff for signups is not rigid.

I have been trying to get on this tour for a couple of years and due to its
limited availability haven't been able to do it yet.

Hopefully, 5 more people will be interested.

I get no commissions for this and am not a travel agent. I just would like
to get on the tour during this visit.

Hi patp, I sure wish I was going to be in Florence as I would love to tour the Vasari Corridor. I know you are not a travel agent..it is a shame that ten people are required. I imagine a lot of visitors would love to take this tour but they don't know about it. I hope it works out for you. If it does please give us a report. Thanks.

we are in florence on the 24th for three nights. I was originally going to book with select italy for the vasari corridor but found this other website.

we ordered tickets and got instant confirmation. I have not researched the company and this is my first time using them so I hope all goes well.

I thought I'd post for you in the event the select italy tour does not have enough people (hope there is!)

In any case, we paid 184 Euro for two (4 euro more than select italy) and the tour is 3 hours versus 2.5 with select italy.

I will be sure to post a review when we get back in October! Enjoy Florence - we can't wait to go back.

Thanks for the tip. I just booked it since Select Italy canceled my tour due to a lack of 10 sign ups.

They are more expensive than Select Italy and I fortunately was available on the 19 September when they had an opening. I just printed my voucher so seems I will get my tour after all.

Is "184 Euro for two" a typo? We took a tour of the Vasari Corridor in 2001, and while I don't remember the cost I know it wasn't a lot.

For future reference, when I was in Florence last year you could book Vasarian corridor tours direct with the Uffizi and it cost MUCH less than 90 euros.

However, my experience of trying to do one of these (three corridor-less visits to Florence so far...) suggests that paying the premium with a tour company might be a safer option for getting a guaranteed visit.

To the OP's - yes, it is a significant amount of money but after some research and other "corridorless" Uffizi visits this seemed like the best guarantee to see the corridor.

I'm always amazed at the wealth of information on this board and the willingness to share! Another Fodor's issue resolved - buon viaggio.

Don't forget to give us reports of your impressions please, I personally would be so interested. And congratulations that you both have worked out your reservations!!

IMHO, it's a nice novelty but not worth 90E for the art. With the Uffizi on one end and the Pitti on the other, you have plenty of masterpieces to enjoy. I think that Michelangelo's Holy Family, which is in a room next (or near)to the entrance to the corridor is far more interesting than anything in the corridor itself. And there are many other paintings in the Uffizi that you can say that about.

I just got back from my trip. The Vasari Corridor visit was a highlight. Though the art works in the corridor are not the "knock your socks off" works that you see in the rest of the Uffizi, for me the opportunity to walk the 1 km passageway of the Medici from the Uffizi to the Pitti Palace was truly rare and memorable experience.

I can't Say enough about how smoothly the process went from the website registration through the tour of the Uffizi and the Corridor. The organization, Florence Art, just recently got permission to offer these tours. Our guide Monica Martini did a super job. The tour package includes reserved time admission to the Uffizi and the tour of the Corridor with an experienced guide. She even arranged to get us to walk back to the Uffizi through the Corridor again so we could see more of the Uffizi on our own if we wanted to.


I would highly recommend this company to anyone who wants to experience something truly unique.

You should be advised that the tour takes nearly 3 hours and once you enter the Corridor you cannot leave because the security guard from the Uffizi that accompanies the tour group is required to monitor all activities. A couple of people did not realize this and thought they could break away after they entered the Corridor. Unfortunately, when they learned they could not do so they had to end their tour after the Uffizi part.
