Florence in May....where to stay
My husband and I are going to Florence in May 2010 and are hoping to stay in a B&B or Inn in a central location. Would also consider smaller hotels with breakfast included. Any suggestions??

I can recommend the Hotel Casci, great breakfast. Good location. It is family run. Very Italian on the second floor of an old bulding. By elevator. House belonged to great Opera Composser Rossini..

You could do a search on this forum (use the search tool on the upper right) for many recommended Florence hotels. Here are a few to consider-

Another vote for the Casci. Excellent location and the owners are very nice and helpful. The rooms are not luxury, but not bare bones either. Very well kept though.

We were looking to stay around 200 euro or less a night. Haven't really thought about a budget that much. I figured our stay in Venice will be more expensive sine we want a canal view and we can save a little in Florence and later on a week rental in the Tuscan countryside.

I am going to mention something I just found when booking my stay this May in Florence. I need to be at the airport so we are staying at the Hilton Garden Inn. There is a bus stop very close by for transportation downtown. They are running a special rate of 70Euros a night including breakfast for a non smoking king room if you book during January. I realize it isn't very charming and not in the center of things, but many Fodorites have recommended it and it is said to be reasonably convenient to downtown.

This past fall, we stayed in a very charming B&B in Florence, Casa dei Tintori. The location was great, about a 5-minute walk to Piazza Republicca, and easy walking to everywhere else we wanted to go.
The rooms are spacious and very nicely decorated, and the owners are wonderfully hospitable. Valeria prepares a large and varied breakfast, and after the first morning, went out of her way to get plain cornetti for my husband, and Nutella-filled cornetti for our daughter. Our room for three people was 160 Euros/night. |
We stayed at the Hotel Alessandra. It was a great location, very nice/helpful staff, good breakfast & a clean, comfortable room.
