Florence Hotels Near San Marco
 

Does anyone have suggestions for small, modestly priced (under $100 for single room) accomodations near or around San Marco in Florence? Would love something on one of the quieter side streets in that area or north / northwest of the square.<BR><BR>Thanks!

Darling, you are in the wrong city! Piazza San Marco is in Venice. There is a church of San Marco in Florence, but it is obscure and I don't think that is what you are talking about. Or are you talking about San Marco church and convent in Florence???????

Actually, I am referring to the small square around the San Marco in Florence. But, thank you for the reply, darlin'. ;-)

While I am asking ... how about suggestions for accomodations in the area around the church of Ognissanti?

We didn't stay in that area but did stay in a very reasonable hotel, Hotel Casci. It was immaculate and quiet and the family that run it is delightful and helpful.

Thank you, MFNYC &amp; JBX! I've been a couple of times, but would love to stay just out of the noisier sections. Both are terrific sites to find more options.

sarah-anne : since u've been to florence several times and i'm going there just for the first time, maybe u can help me choose a convenient location. I'm not aware of the good/bad nbhds, but i did get some clue from a frommers guide that the area arnd the rly stn can be quite shady and full of drug dealers in the evenings !!??

My first criteria is price, preferably below 140 euro, secondly close enuf to walk to piazza signoria,duomo and uffizi, but not necessarily stay in the midst [altho i don't mind, i quite consider that fun, unfortunately i find that prices r higher to stay in the middle]. What areas do u recommend that would hv some good restaurants too?

BTW, i welcome responses and suggs from others too.

We stayed at the Hotel Alessandra in Florence, near the river. Found it quite nice, clean, spacious room and decent breakfast included. We had a quad, so I can't speak to the cost on a single.
