I stayed at this convent in July of 2001 and it was fantastic!
My room was large, two twin beds, antique furniture, marble fireplace, and a bathroom bigger than the one I have at home.
Its located just outside the city centre, but there are good bus links nearby - I just walked and it only took about 10 minutes. The convent takes up one full city block (maybe more)It is walled off from the 'outside' world and has beautiful gardens that guests are permitted to stroll through.
There is complimentary continental breakfast in a breakfast room that looks like it should be part of a museum.
Upon arrival the Madre Superiore took me on a mini tour of the building and was very friendly though sopke little English.
I paid only about $55CAD a night, and for the type of accommodation I received would have paid much more...
They don't have a website, so if you want to see pictures mail them and they will send you a brochure. Make sure to ask for the nicest room - some are smaller and behind the library whereas mine was at the front of the building and faced out onto the gardens.
If you have a car you can park it for free inside the gates, so it will be perfectly secure during the night.

Villa Merlo Bianca of the Istituto Suore di S.
