Florence Hotels
Please recommend a hotel in Florence, Italy for approximately $250 (U.S.). I will be visiting at the end of September.

Thanks.

My suggestions are for three charme hotels: ALBION, MALASPINA and PRIVILEGE. PRIVILEGE is along the river, only fiftenn minutes walking from Uffizi.
|
Hermitage Hotel across the street from the Ponte Vecchio, around the corner from the Uffizi. Ask for a room with a jacuzzi tub.
|
Try B&B In Piazza della Signoria (yes that's the name). If you run a search here you will find a previous discussion about this place.

The Mona Lisa. Absolutely wonderful .

We stayed at the Hermitage in December. The lcoation is GREAT, it is right off the Ponte Vecchio, however, it is a very basic hotel and you are paying totally for the location. No frills all the way. IF you are looking for a bit of luxury, I would not stay here. I've also heard that the Mona Lissa is great, and also the Lucchese, although I've never stayed at either.

We stayed at the Hotel Grand Cavour - great location - nice rooms - felt luxurious for the price - under 200 euros.
|
I found the Hermitage slightly expensive, too. However, the location is incredible and the roof deck is a sheer joy--a great place to unwind with a view of the Ponte Vecchio and Duomo after a day of touring to enjoy a Peroni or 4.

Hotel Berichelli, a few steps from the Ponte Vecchio. Just stayed there. Very nice. Giovanni at the bartender is great. Nice buffet breakfast too.
|
Albergo Balestri, Piazza Mentana
quiet location, short walk to Uffizi & Ponte Vecchio
|
I second the suggestion to try Hotel Grand Cavour. You cannot beat the location. It also has a nice roof deck with a birds-eye view of the duomo. Large rooms (by European standards) and clean. We stayed there in September '99 and I believe the price was about $195 a night.
