Florence Hotel Recommendations

Hi again,

Can anyone recommend a nice hotel not over $200 US dollars a night in Florence. I would like to have a private bath, balcony (if possible with a nice view of possibly the city or a garden) and an elevator.

Thanks!

Also, can anyone recommend must sees while in Florence.

Hi nicole,

Have you done a search on this forum for "hotel AND Florence"?

There are a number of good suggestions.

Have you looked at the miniguide to Florence at www.fodors.com?

My husband and I stayed in a great bed and breakfast called Palazzo Castiglioni Relais. It is ideally located next door to the Medici chapels, and the room we got was enormous - more like a suite - with ceilings that seemed 20 ft high. It is not a full-service hotel, and there was no balcony, but it was clean, quiet, and spacious. It's on florenceby.com, where you'll also find many other great hotels in Florence...lots of pictures, too.

Good morning, stayued at a different hotel last November have for years stayed at the Continentl, however we went with four and decided on a less expensive hotel and picked the HOTEL TORRE GUELFA, Borgo SS Apostoli, 8 and is less than a block from the Ponte Vecchio. Was able to get room # 15 and was very satisified with the hotel and its staff. Ths particular room has its own private patio atop the building and a pretty good view of Firenze... We are staying at the hotel Alessandra (www.hotelalessandra.com) - they got a pretty good review on tripadvisor.com. I will let you know how it is in a few weeks!

Good choice purplefreak! We stayed there in March and were blissfully happy! Excellent location, great room and great service!

The Pitti Palace is $131.30/ night. Supposedly centrally located, and has generally good reviews. Havent stayed there yet however. Might be worth checking out.

Hi, we stayed at Hotel Consigli last week on the Arno river. Great terrace and some rooms open to the terrace. It is a former Russian Prince's Palace.
Vaulted ceilings, and the breakfast room had a frescoed ceiling. They were very nice. $150 per nite www.hotelconsigli.com

We are staying at the Hotel Pitti Palace in early June. My most trusted travel advisor has stayed there and raves about it.

They have a web site but can't remember the link. I think you can type it in on a search and find it.

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Casci for one night in April - very nice staff, internet access in the lobby, but very small bathrooms. We changed hotels (due to a earlier cancellation with our reservation) to Hotel Columbo just a few steps down. They have only 9 rooms and great, large renovated marble baths!!!! Hard to find a full shower in Florence, but they had them.
Both of these hotels were 145/Euros nightly. A good deal considering you are never in your room!
** Make sure you cross the river and climb to the top of Piazza Michealangelo - the best view of Florence! Have a glass of vino and relax there one afteroon for sunset!

Hi,
Check out Hotel Globus--near train station and central Market and wonderfully warm and helpful staff.
I'm pretty sure it's in your price range and has great reviews on tripadvisor...
Good luck,
j
