Florence hotel feedback..

Suggestions much appreciated for hotel advice in Florence. Traveling with 2 teenagers, we want to be in the center of
things, but also looking for awesome accommodations. Would love to stay at the Excelsior but we need 2 rooms, which makes it too pricey. Anyone know of a hotel of the same caliber with quad rooms or same atmosphere in the 300.00-350.00p/room range? Thanks in advance for taking the time to respond!!

Maybe not totally same caliber - - and I have never set foot in this place, but based strictly on a search of www.venere.com for four in one room, I come up with http://www.venere.com/it/firenze/baglioni as the best combination of location and price in the 4 star hotels listed there. For late March, the junior suite prices at 224 euro/night. They show a range of 200-333, so I feel certain that the season determines the price.

Best wishes,

Rex

My wife and I stayed at the Luchessi (I think that is correct spelling)- very nice - on the river- walking distance to all museums, etc. Check it out.

Back! Just checked out the hotel on web and it can be found at <www.plazalucchesi.it> Lots of info- may be the answer for you and your family.

Thanks for the website/info, Rex. You have really been a help...this is quite a consuming job!! And thank you also, oberost. I have noticed plaza luchessi appearing quite frequently. It's something to look at! Thanks!

Check on Hotel Casci. I stayed there 3 years ago for 4 days and had a delightful stay. Family owned and managed - clean and neat. Reasonable price.

There are problems with Lucchesi, namely paper-thin walls, and drains that back up in the shower. You must demand a room with a view of the Arno. The location of Lucchesi is good, around the corner from Santa Croce, but a double room has to cost more than $300 in the high season. A single is $300 is during high season.

Have you tried Helvetia e Bristol? Although it is very expensive, you should check it out anyway.

I usually stay at Savoy in Piazza Repubblica, but I did stay at Luchessi once. My jet set aunt loves H e V.

Thanks for the info...have also seen comments about Hotel Lungarno and Lungarno Suites...has anyone stayed at either, and how do the Lungarno hotels compare to plaza lucchesi? Really appreciate the feedback!

My wife and I are returning to Florence mid-April and I think I found a super deal on Venere.com for the Boutique 5* Villa Antea (109 Euro per night for 4 nights, while the hotel's own website is 300+ Euro per night). www.villaantea.com

It is about 12 minute's walk to the Duomo, but for those gorgeous rooms, we certainly do not mind.

you may see if they have availability for your dates.
