Florence during the Jan 6 celebration.

Just came back from Florence. Here are some of my observations:

The negatives:
- tons of tourists
-long lines
-rip off places near the sights and some not so near
-museums are expensive
- weird opening and closing hours for Maury’s and parks

The positive:
-the Mercato food court at after 4 and before 7.30: yummy and fun
-very walkable city
-the morning is the best to see the city
- nice food surprises in some of the restaurants
- the leather school behind San Croce was our bud surprise. No tourists and you were transformed into the past.
- the michelangelo piazza for views
- the church behind it for just as stunning views
San Croce and the area opposite the river give you the real Italian feeling.

Tips:
-For the most efficient way to see Florence, buy a 72 hour museum pass. It includes priority entry
- use maps.me for a good and free off-line app of the city.
- be prepared that the Duomo will be closer on Jan 6
- visit the museums and the bell tower before 9.
- the Pitta Palace is free on the first Sunday in the month
- check the price before ordering

Florence isn’t my favourite city due to the tourists but there are soon real nice areas to visit and great food to eat.

Hope this helps.

By the way, I missed the Jan 6 procession but saw the 500+ Vespa parade. That was fun!

Another tip: any cappuccino over 2 euros is a rip off
