Florence Day Tours-any suggestions?
We will be in Florence for 4 nights and would like to experience Tuscany from there. Does anyone have any suggestions for tours we should take? We would like to be part of a small group vs. the expensive private tours.

Go to the Banfi Castle/Winery and have their wine tasting lunch, and if you are not too wasted after the lunch, take the wine tour.

I'm not a group tour person, so I've done my day trips independently. Fiesole, as mentioned, is easy to get to by city bus. Lucca and Siena are also simple to reach by bus (which gets you closer to the centers) or train. Orvieto is also an easy train trip.

Here's a link to dedlaw's trip report (longer lasting than topping.) Dedlaw - to do this, just find the thread you want, right click in the title, and then clikc on "Copy Shortcut". Now paste it into the thread to which you're replying (i.e., this one.)

My friend and I caught a local bus to Sinea (1.50) and nobody checked to see if you even bought a ticket (!) and had a lovely day eating and shopping and walking. Rest of the time in Florence just walked and walked. What a beuatiful city - you will have a great time.
