Florence Card worth it?

Hello fellow travelers,

My partner and I are headed to Florence in July and wondering if the Florence Card is a good idea. We will be there for three full days, doing one trip to Pisa which should only take 1/2 a day. It doesn't look like the card gets you into churches (do you have to pay to get into churches?), but someone please correct me if i'm wrong. Any advice would be most appreciated.

Thanks,
Jessica

The only way to judge is to check the cost of the museums you actually plan to visit in your three days and see if regular admission would exceed 50 euros. Also compute if you think you will ride the bus. The tourist center of Florence is relatively compact and walkable, so unless you are staying in the Oltrarno your bus riding may be limited.

A few churches (Santa Croce and Santa Maria Novella to name two) do have admission fees and are not listed on this card.

When I visited Florence, I only used the bus twice - to go to Fiesole, and to visit San Minato al Monte. Otherwise I walked everywhere with no problem. I do recommend both these bus trips, and in particular San Miniato, but if you are planning on neither I would say the bus is pretty unnecessary. Just my two cents.

Have been to Florence many times over the past 12 years, and have ridden the bus just as travelingaunta....to Fiesole, San Minato, and last time to San Salvi (to see one of the Last Suppers). Fiesole and San Minato are uphill and San Salvi was near Campo di Marte. All too far to walk, but otherwise, as has been mentioned, central Florence is totally walkable.
