Florence Artisan Tour in Oltrarno? Anyone?

I will be in Florence in October of this year and am interested in taking a tour of the
artisan workshops in the Oltrarno area of Florence. Has anyone done one of these tours? Which company did you use? Comments?

Can this type of walk be a self tour? Are tourists welcome into the workshops?

I would appreciate any information on this type of tour, either a structured tour or a self guided one.

Thanks...Leslie

I don't know if the Florence Tourist Board still does this tour, but you could check.

Thanks so much for the reply. I contacted them to see if they still conduct the tours. I am awaiting a response.

I hope you'll post what you learn here -- I'm also interested.

@annw, I will post what I have learned.

I have done some research and there are several companies that offer artisan walks. The tours are 3 hours long and vary in prices.

I was hoping that there have been readers on this and other forums who have had experience with any of the tour companies.

To annw: I contacted a company in Florence, Florence Art .net that conducts this type of tour. Here is their website:

http://www.florenceart.net/floart/

They responded with information on the dates that they have available during my visit to Florence. Their rates are very reasonable and it looks like something that my group will enjoy.
