Florence and Sienna?
Our current plan is to spend 5 nights in Florence and 3 in Rome. But after reading many of the postings here ( i just found this website yesterday ) I'm thinking of maybe spending 3 in Florence and going to Sienna for 2 nights. Does anyone know if you can take a train directly to Rome from Sienna? Thanks for all the help

You can take a train but many will say the bus is better--city center to city center. Siena's train station is outside town.

I think ellenem is talking about going from Florence to Siena, where most people feel bus is better. I'm sure someone will chime in here about Siena to Rome.

Oh, soory. Yes, you can take a train from Rome to Siena, though I think it often involves changin to another train. I think there is also an infrequent direct bus. I've seen the train to Florence with bus connection recommended since there is such frequent (hourly) service.

Hi St,
I suggest 1 night in Siena. You have to change trains to get from Siena to Rome. See www.trenitalia.com/en You can also bus from Siena to Rome. See http://www.senabus.it/ ((I)) |
Thanks eveyone, after a little more research I'm a thinking a day trip to Siena by bus. Will also be checking out the sunset from the Bar Bleu

I took the train from Rome to Siena. Its direct and only a few hours. The scenery is fabulous along the way. I would really recommend Siena and it is much more relaxing than Florence which is a bit hectic I thought

Gavinda must have rented a private train. There is not a single train that goes directly from Rome to Siena on the Trenitalia site; they all require a change at Grosseto or, more often, at Chiusi.
