Florence - Acadamy Gallery-David

We are going to Florence in November just 2 days, I looked on the site Florenceart.it.com, to get tickets E6.50 in advance do we really have to pay an additional E8.50 in fees, for a party of 4 ouch! Any reservation alternatives?

bobthenavigator Sep 24th, 2006 03:17 PM

That time of year you can walk in after 1600 or so--maybe earlier.

You can e-mail your hotel and ask them to reserve tickets for you. There is no charge for this.

Or you could write the approximately $2.65 per person to the security of knowing you have them. It's not a terrible expense in the overall budget of your trip!

There is a phone number you can call for reservations. You will be able to speak with an operator in English and can make reservations for this, the Uffizi and other museums as well for a small fee which will be charged when you pick up the tickets. I don't have the number with me now, but if you do a search, it has been mentioned before on this forum.

Thank you for your help, this forum is fantastic!, puzzled by Amyb reply, by my calculation with the exchange rate is's more like $11.00 per person, $2.65 I would be very happy to pay :-)

HI N,

Uffizi and Academia Museum Reservations

The easiest and cheapest way is to call Florence 1016868 (dial around number), 011 (U.S. international access code) 39 (Italy's country code) then 055-294-883 8:30-18:30 M-F and 8:30-12:00 Sat. Florence time. You will get an English speaking operator and in 2-3 minutes YOU CAN RESERVE FOR BOTH. This is through the reservation service at the Uffizi and costs beyond the normal entry fee only about 3 euro for the service. This is MUCH cheaper than the commercial booking services.

You will not be charged for the reservations unless you use them.

Have a nice visit.

PS just realised what Amyb meant, the E8.50 is per person not for the entire party! sorry I hadn't made it clear.

The direct dial from ira is the best way to go. We just made the call last week for our reservations to the Uffizi and the Accademia for the first week of October and it was fast and easy.

nonnaJackie Sep 25th, 2006 08:37 AM

When I phone to make reservations can I just make reservations for the Acadamia or must it be for the Uffiza as well?

capxxx Sep 25th, 2006 10:52 AM

You don't have to combine the reservations.

ira Sep 25th, 2006 10:56 AM

Hi NJ,

Sometimes they will separate them for you, even if you reserve both. :)

Fortunately, the Uffizi wasn't completely mobbed and we had our reservations restored.

I agree with Bobthenavigator. I don't think you need advance tickets for November. My strategy, however, would be to arrive a few minutes before the opening time and see how it goes. If it seems like the wait will be too long, try again late in the afternoon as Bobthenavigator suggests.

Thank you so much for all the info, especially Ira with the phone #, I decided I'd rather have reservations -especially with no charge if we do not use them, it did take me just about 3 minutes to do it, on another topic someone had said to press 2 for English and 4 for reservations, the recording is very poor so this was fantastic help, the assistant that answered spoke perfect English and told me that with the reservation # we go to door 3 of the Acadamia.
