Florence

Does anyone have recomendations for hotels and resturants in Florence?

There's a good search engine on this site which should give you lots of recommendations. Look under Rants and Raves section and also you can create a mini-guide with Fodor recommendations which are always reliable

There is no search engine on this site that works in any predictable way. Searching "florence" will give you a hodgepodge of message threads, in which you WILL (eventually) find some useful info.

Leading compiled sources of info include

www.italyhotel.com
www.timeout.com
and
www.firenze.net

Best wishes,

Rex

Postscript: If this forum had an easier way to locate and direct readers to a specific (previous) posting by a unique identifier (timestamp), it would not be necessary to top (and repeat) information so tediously. This is my new crusade, and I am thinking about adding this postscript (when applicable) to every new reply I make here. If you agree with me, then please write to Danny Mangin or David Downing - - [email protected] - - and encourage them to move forward with this improvement (and any others they have up their sleeves) to this best-on-the-web travel forum!

The search facility hardly works properly at all. I posted a question about travelling from Cherbourg to Biarritz and cannot retrieve it at all. It took me an hour to find.

I am looking for information about biarritz too. Where is the message you found?
Spent about 4 days in Florence last year at the Pendini. Quiet Pensione with bar at night and breakfast included. About $120 USD. Pendini sits on Piazza de Repiclica. Close to good shopping and food. Go to Il Latini for dinner and you will get the full Italian meal. The concierge will recommend local out of the way resteraunts for meals. Good luck!!
