Floating the Gorge!!!

Has anyone been to Provence, France and floated down the Gorge? I keep seeing pics on trip advisor and looks like something I'd enjoy doing for a day! If so... Did you go through a company with a guide service or just find a place to rent a raft once you go there? Is there transportation back to reality to pick up and leave again? Also what is the best way to get to Provence (plane train bus rental car?)

Thanks much!!

I've done two trips by canoe down gorges in Provence - one the Gorges de Verdun, I think the largest canyon in western Europe and another on the Ardeche River (or a big river in the Ardeche) - we rented canoes in each case and they were brought back at the end and us too to the starting point.

If you go to Castellane, there are many shops/services offering trips by some sort of boat/canoe down the Gordes du Verdon. Friends did the same for the Ardeche gorge - but I don't know how they made arrangements.

Me and my son just dropped in on a whim at the
Ardeche Gorge in August and had no problems getting a boat but yes do your research - the Verdun gorge was a bit more adventuresome - we did tip over once!

Our friends "crashed & burned" doing the Ardeche gorge.
