Flights to Paris in October - need advice!
 

Planning a trip to Paris with my wife 10/7-10/14 (Sat-Sat)from Newark. <BR> <BR>Have seen prices of about $629 with 1 stop along the way. Have also gotten quote of $385 + taxes + weekend surcharges which would probably bring it to about $485. Again, this would not be a direct flight to Paris. <BR> <BR>Would prefer to go direct from Newark to Paris. Any advice? Should I wait a month or two before booking? Will prices be cheaper? What about direct to Paris flights? <BR> <BR>Great discussion forum. Very informative. I am sure I will be asking many more Q's. <BR> <BR>Thanx for help. <BR> <BR>Bob

take a look at www.bestfares.com and click on the news desk. They list several flights to Paris. This will help you get a feel for what is out there. I would think that booking now is a good idea, but other bargains will probably show up as you get closer.

I'm planning an October trip also and have been watching skyauction.com. You might have a better chance than I of getting a good deal since you want to leave from the East Coast. Let me know if you find a good price some place else. Thanks. Boots

Hi Bob, <BR>since you want to leave from Newark, get yourself on the Continental Airlines <BR>email list. Every week they will send you info on travel specials, usually relatively last-minute. It can't hurt.

Bob, I just got two round trip tickets to Paris from DFW for October 4-12 for $350 each from Priceline.com The flights are great times on Continental through Newark. I should probably have bid lower, as they accepted my bid on the first shot. If you bid Newark to Paris, I would start much lower. Remember that with Priceline, if they find seats for you, they are yours! Your credit card is charged and no refunds. I,too, had been watching Skyauction, and they bid way too much for fall flights. Last fall there were flights for under $300 RT. That may not happen this year. You never know!

I, too, am planning a trip to Paris in October (25-31). With such a short trip, I decided I was willing to pay more for a direct flight from Atlanta rather than saving a couple hundred dollars by taking a connecting flight. Delta quoted $734 non-refundable. However, if Delta cuts that fare or offers any other fare for a lower price and I can meet all the restriction for the lower fare, they will refund the difference. I think I'm going for it!

Bob, <BR>I recently bought tickets at Travelocity for our trip September 1-17. We are flying "open jaws" from Chicago to Paris and then out of Amsterdam. I looked almost everyday at Expedia and Travelocity since fares constantly change. The majority I found were around $750 and up, so I knew if I found a fare for less than $700 to buy it. One morning, the airfare priced at $629, so I grabbed it. We are flying over on British Air with a stop in London and returning nonstop on KLM. The moral of the story is if you are willing to spend 10-15 minutes each day you should find something cheaper that is hopefully nonstop. You may also want to look at the cheap flight forum at eurotrip.com, people there are always helpful.
