Flights to Germany, back from Italy.

In June '06 we will be travelling to Italy for our daughters wedding but we are planning to fly into Frankfurt, Germany first and then driving through Germany and Austria and flying back from Milan, either Malpensa or Linate(prefered). We would be flying from Boston (nearest) or Newark whichever is the cheapest option. We are not frequent flyers and have to have specific dates, so if anyone can recommend any airline or code share airline that would do this flight itinary at a reasonable price. We would be willing to consider one stopover but no more than that. There will be 6 of us flying.

I flew to Frankfurt and back from Rome on Delta and the flight was no more expensive than a round trip flight to either Frankfurt or Rome.

Try Delta as it flights direct to Frankfurt and direct from Malpensa to JFK.

Or if you want to take connecting flights (one connection) try British Airways (connecting thru London) or Iberia Airlines (connecting thru Madrid), or American or Swiss Air (connecting thru Zurich).

Look into United/Lufthansa they code share. You can also look at hooking up with British Midland (BMI), another United partner and return through the UK. On that note also check cheap flights to UK from Italy on Ryan air or Easy Jet....look at returns as well from Bergamo. Best of luck to you and happy travels.

Ryanair do very cheap flights from Bergamo (Listed on the site as Milan (Orio al Serio) ) to Frankfurt (Hahn) for as little as one Euro plus taxes.

I believe there are drawbacks in that it is one flight a day - arriving in Frankfurt at 11pm. I also seem to remember that Hahn is some way from Frankfurt itself.
