Flights from US
I am Having a hard time finding affordable flights from the NYC area. Any suggestions? Willing to fly into Croatia or Slovenia.
Thanks! |
Where are you going? What time of the year? A good European hub from NYC is London. Frequnt flights, good prices to then take advantage of an inter-Europe airline and fly from there.

Harry,
Help us here (please). When are you wanting to fly (next week, late Feb, or 2007)? What is affordable ? ($400 is about rock bottom cost to fly across the Atlantic regardless of where you land.) Where are you heading to and why did you mention Croatia and Slovenia? |
Czech air flies to BTS for $685 and up this winter, that's not bad these days.
Also look for flights from NYC to nearby airports like VIE or BUD then take the train. Right now I see JFK-VIE for as little as $518! The train barely takes an hour from Wien-Suedbahnhof to either of the two Bratislava stations and won't cost much. Although I don't think there is much more savings to be had than this VIE flight, look for the cheapest flight you can find into one of the London airports, then look at www.skyscanner.com for the many cheap flights from various London airports to BTS (Ryanair, SkyEurope, Easyjet). Switching airports in London, and maybe even staying cheaply overnight, might still represent a savings, but you have to do your homework. Then do the same thing with FRA or CDG/ORY where sometimes cheap transatlantic flights become available. If you have a cheap budget connection from there, you've got it made. Check www.skyscanner.com and www.whichbudget.com. NYC-LJU is not as easy, I see nothing under $666, and LJU is not served well by budget airlines, not in winter anyway. WK |
I will be traveling early May 2006. Anywhere in Croatia and Slovenia. Will rent a car and travel both of these countrys. Thanks for suggestions.

Hi Harry,
I am having the same problem as I am trying to book a trip for my parents Orlando-Ljubljana. LJU is always much more expensive to fly into. Other easy airports to try are Klagenfurt, Trieste and esp. Venice. Venice is only about 2 hours away from LJ and there are usually much cheaper flights going in there. Cheers, Jan in LJ |
