FLIGHT TIMING QUESTION

Please help me. I need to know if 2 hrs is enough time to get off of a flight coming from Spain into LGW and make a flight going from LGW to the US. Do you think I will not make my flight due to customs and security? I would appreciate your opinions. Thanks!

If you have your luggage checked from Spain to the US...it's a bit short but you probably will do it. If not...impossible.

Can I check my luggage at American Airlines in Spain to the US for a flight that is going out of LGW?

AAFrequentFlyer Feb 15th, 2008 02:06 PM

Is this on one ticket? two tickets using major airlines? or a low cost carrier and a major airline?

The three scenarios will present different situations.

Please post the airlines you'll be flying that day.

Okay... here goes.. it is hairy.

SAN (US)- STN (London) (AA)
STN- SVQ(Spain) (Ryan Air)

BCN (Spain)- LGW (London) Easy Jet
LGW- SAN (AA)

I know... I am crazy. :)

AAFrequentFlyer Feb 15th, 2008 02:17 PM

I agree, you are crazy....:-D

You'll never make it. EasyJet does not interline so if you have checked in luggage you are "screwed". You will need to go through immigration, collect your luggage, go through custome and then get to AA desk to check in. No way....

OTOH, if you only have 1 carry on, you can follow "connections" signs, no need to go through immigration/customs and get your AA BP at the transfer desk. It's still close but somewhat possible.

Ahhhh! This is so frustrating. I am trying to use a ticket voucher for 1100 to get to Spain. ( I would rather not spend tooooo much in addition to that.) It is through AA but I am totally willing to take commuter flights if needed. My only criteria is flying out to San DIego and flying sometime within May or June.

Does anyone want to take a stab at it?

curlysue Feb 15th, 2008 02:23 PM

Oh.. and I want to start in BCN and end in SVQ (or vice versa)

Who likes a challenge? I have been sitting at my desk FOREVER trying to figure this out.

Any preference to the days of the week you want to travel?

How many days in Spain?

curlysue Feb 15th, 2008 02:27 PM

No preference on days of the week. We (fiancee and I) can get between 12-14 days off.

AAFrequentFlyer Feb 15th, 2008 02:37 PM

I hope you're not thinking that the 2 of you can do this with your 1 voucher?

Summer fares between US/anywhere in Europe average out to about $1000 per person.

Your voucher will get one of you to your destinations:

SAN-SVQ
BCN-SAN

in May comes out to about $1100 all in.

If you are willing to do SAN-BCN-SAN then you're looking at about $950 all in.

And SAN-MAD-SAN ? I mean, is not the most convenient but maybe is cheaper and now with the AVE, you can take one to BCN and another to Seville quite easily.
