Flight questions To Italy with Frankfurt connection

I am looking at an multiple city flight from Seattle (SEA) to Venice (VCE) and then Rome (FCO) back to Seattle. My original post with itinerary is posted above.
The flight I am looking at is through Lufthansa and connects in Frankfurt. On our flight to Seattle from Rome we only have a 1hour and 20 minute layover in Frankfurt. I hope this isn't a silly question, but is this enough time for an international connection?

It's probably enough time... if the first flight isn't delayed.

It appears your flight Rome-FRA-Seattle is all on Lufthansa. We have had excellent service in these situations on many itineraries similar to yours. LH is pretty adept at making sure all passengers making a connection are accounted for and on board with the connecting flight.

Many will complain about the "mega" Frankfurt airport but we would not have any qualms about a one hour twenty minute connection using the same airline. LH will take care of you if there is a problem with the connection. Rest easy and good luck.

Thank you both. Luckily the flight I am looking at is a couple days before we actually have to be back for work etc. so I do have a bit of a buffer.
As far as my airports go I am right to be using VCE and FCO right?

One more reassurance about Frankfurt and Lufthansa. They have been great with connections and late flights, even with only minutes to spare. If any airline will get you there with minimum issues, they will.

Another reassurance for Frankfurt and Lufthansa, lots of trips involving both, never a problem.

I have made connections in Munich (coming from Italy en route to the US) with less time than that. I wouldn't worry about it; even if you don't make the connection, as long as the ticket is bought as part of a single itinerary, it's Lufthansa's responsibility to get you to your destination.

Once I missed a connection in Munich, and ended up getting to my destination several hours ahead of the original flight; Lufthansa put me on a flight that made a better connection, and that I had not bought because it was a lot more expensive.

Glad to hear all of the reassurances about Lufthansa, as I too will be flying Seattle to Frankfurt (then on to Naples) and have a 1h30m connection.

The Star Alliance has streamed the layover setup at FRA. Last year, I flew LH FCO-FRA then another LH FRA-SFO. There was no additional security check moving from the FCO plane to the SFO plane. I just had to go through the passport control. It was very quick.

I flew Lufthansa last year Denver to Frankfurt to Venice. My DEN-FRA flight was delayed so I missed my connecting flight to Venice. There were several other options to Venice that day on Lufthansa, so I just went a few hours later. So depending on the time of day that your original flight is scheduled to arrive in Frankfurt, if you do miss your connection, there will probably be something later in the day for the short hop to Venice.

Well, I haven't been lucky every time, but considering the number of times I've connected in Frankfurt I suppose something was bound to happen eventually.

We were flying Venice-Frankfurt-LAX on Lufthansa. The Venice flight was delayed, and we missed our connection in Frankfurt. A few hours later, they put us on a flight to Dulles which arrived too late for a connecting flight to LAX, so, after waiting more than an hour for everyone to retrieve their luggage, they bused us all to a really nice hotel in Leesburg. Less than five hours later they bused us back to Dulles for a flight that was (comically, at this point) delayed about an hour.

I think delays can cause more ripple effects for those of us on the West Coast. When an airline only operates one direct flight a day and flights are booked to capacity, missing it can mean puddle-jumping our way home.

I wouldn't go that far! I've had some customer service issues with Lufthansa. In fact, one of my worst air travel experiences ever was with a missed Lufthansa connection in Mexico City, returning to Italy from Cancun.

My theory is that all airlines will treat you like cattle unless it's easy for them to resolve your situation.

Maybe it is easier when the problem happens at Frankfurt where perhaps they have more support staff. They may also make more of an effort for a group which they would more trouble rebooking. We had a delayed flight from Milan, arriving only about 10 minutes before boarding for a US flight. As soon as we landed, they had my little group go to the back of the plane and a shuttle was waiting and took us directly to the other plane. We never even went into the Airport. I was sure our luggage would be left, but it also made it. It would have been hard not to be impressed

I am reviving this thread of mine from two years ago. We are again traveling to and from Seattle to Rome with a connection in Frankfurt. Our connection both ways is about 1.5 hours long. Last time we had no problem with that amount of timem at all. However we did not check luggage. I have actually never checked luggage on a flight with an international connection. I feel silly asking this but how would this go? Do I pick up my bag in Frankfurt and recheck it? I've gotten a lot of mixed information, and no threads that I have seen answer my exact question. I would just do carry on again, but we will need to pack heaving clothes this time.

No. You'll pick up your bag in Rome.

Immigration will be in Frankfurt and you will collect your bags in Rome. There have been lots of threads where it is explained that immigration is at point of Schengen entry and customs/luggage is at final destination (assuming it is all on one booking)
