Flight from Munich to Prague - HELP!
I am looking to find a discount airline the would take me from Munich to Prague. There was a flight on SkyEurope, but that seems to have disappeared from their offerings. Please help as I'm travelling in 2 months...
|
Nope. Don't find anything. Condor flies this route 5/1 to 10/28 only.
BTW, just check with Lufthansa and CSA Czech. I saw some roundtrip fares for about US$150. Just throw away the return. |
Try using www.skyscanner.net to find the cheapest flights on all airlines.

There is a night train from Munich to Prague. You will find it on the Bahn website. Leaves Munich around 2300 and gets into Prague at 800.
It might be a little difficult to get tickets with a compartment. German Rail sells seats for €66, but no couchettes or sleepers online. You can call them at +49 1805 99 66 33. If nothing else, you should be able to put together that full fare ticket from DB with an Aufpreis (supplement) for the compartment (they're not just for railpasses). That should come to about €83 for a 4 person couchette or €105 for a 2 person compartment, but there should also be SparNight fares on that train for a lot less. Either way, you would be saving the cost of a night in a hotel. |

Have you tried calling from outside of Germany? Would be intersting if it works and how much you're charged for a service number. |
I called that number once. I was using an international calling card, and I was only charged for the call.
The question I wanted to ask was pretty simple, and I could have handled it with my German, but it would have been easier in English, so I asked the girl if she spoke English. She put me on hold for a few minutes while she got someone who spoke English. I later wished I had just asked in German. Someone else called a few month ago and got someone who only spoke German, but they had and English speaker on the line in a few minutes. |
Back to getting to Prague, there is a train leaving Munich at 10:44, connecting in Regansburg, Schwandorf, and Furth im Wald. They are all regional trains, so you can us a Bayern ticket (€18 single, €25 up to 5 people). The last link is a direct train, R453, from Furth im Wald to Prague. You can buy the ticket for that train in Munich for €18,60. R453 gets into Prague at 16:45 - 6 hours.
That's only €37 and not much more time, if any, than flying, if you could find a flight. You could take a train to Stuttgart and fly GermanWings to Prague, but that would take longer and cost more than the train. |
