Flight cancelled Going to Paris the end of July
Our flight to Paris was cancelled on May 23. The usual United nightmare-no pilot and a plane not ready to fly. I have rebooked the flight for July 25 to August 4. I had everything planned for May thanks to the great advice & experiences I read on this forum. I am now going with my 2 adult children and husband. I also realize I am now at the peak time. Here are my questions
1. Eiffel Tower-I looked on-line and there are no tickets available for the days we will be in Paris. Is there another option to waiting on line.
2. Versailles-Do I need tickets for the musical fountain show ahead of time. I plan on buying the paris museum pass so I know the admission to Versailles is included.
3. Any tickets I should get ahead of time for any special event that is offered in the summer.
4. Now that there are 4 people going to restaurants will be a bit trickie. We do not eat any meat or game. One is a vegetarian. We do eat chicken and fish. Are restaurants open in August and should we make reservations now.
Thank you so much for your help!!!

August is not peak time in Paris, in fact it is low season for hotel/restaurant operators.
One of the elevators at the Eiffel Tower has been out of service meaning lines are very long and reservations very difficult to obtain. You could book lunch at Restaurant 58 Tour Eiffel. You still must pay for the elevator but there is a special line for those with restaurants reservations. You can always take the stairs and walk up the tower.

There will virtually be hundreds and hundreds of restaurants open in August. If there is some place you really want to go and that typically requires reservations, there is no reason not to reserve. Usually, reserving just a few days in advance is all that is required for most places. Generally for cafés and brasseries, reservations are not required.
You should not have difficulties with ordering only chicken and fish, you might want to purchase or download some type of food dictionary if you really want to avoid certain foods.

Were you not offered the opportunity to delay your May trip by a few days rather than rescheduling entirely?
Unless you were planning to eat only in upper end restaurants, you will have no trouble finding places to eat except perhaps on Sunday, when it is often difficult to find restaurants open.
If you can't get up in the Eiffel Tower, remember that the view OF the Tower is infinitely better from across the Seine at the Trocadero than on the site itself, that many people believe that the view of Paris is better from the top of the Tour Montparnasse, and none of the views will really be worth the trouble if it is hazy.
Enjoy what IS available rather than worrying about what you can't. There will be far more than you can do.
