Flea Markets / Antique Shopping in Paris

We will be in Paris on Sunday and Monday, Easter weekend, and were wondering if anyone had suggestions on where do find flea markets or good antique shopping. Any suggestions are appreciated!

THE flea market is at Pte de Clignancourt but it is huge and overwhelming-worth an entire day. If you want something more do-able, try the one at Porte de Vanves, best on Saturday mornings.

Easter Sunday and Easter Monday are national holidays--perhaps check to see what will be open?

I agree with Elaine about Easter Sunday and Monday. I'd check the Paris Tourist office website. www.paris-touristoffice.com for schedule information. It's a very thorough and up to date site. Bonne chance.

Hi RB --

Check out an old article of mine from Easter '98 about the Puces in the 4th & 14th arondissements:

http://www.metropoleparis.com/1998/316/puces316.html

(It's long, but the Editor wanted it rambling!) The Pont Louis Philippe market can be combined with a great wander through the Marais. Don't expect to get any bargains there, though - head to Vanves or Clignancourt if you're really antiquing.

Have fun!
-- TT

Paris flea markets: overpriced, overpopulated, over-rated.
