Flea market in London area.
I'll be in London on this Monday. Which flea market is the one everyone goes to? I see that there were quite a few places mentioned on this site. Which is the one that locals go to?
thanks!! I can't wait!!! |
Locals go to all of them, though you may find more tourists at some than others (especially Portobello Rd and Camden Passage, which long ago ceased to be anything like flea markets). London Transport promotes a large number, so take your pick, depending on what you're looking for:

On Mondays, Covent Gardens has an antique market. I bought some small things there that were a good price. My favorite is a glass coronation bowl shaped like a crown. It was part of the souvenir junk issued in the 1930's when Queen Elizabeth's father was coronated. It was 7 pounds a few years ago, but it is priceless to me. There are lots of small things there that are interesting. Last year, I bought lots of old lace panels.

Thanks all for the replies. The markets are FUN. 2 weeks in London is Waaayyyyyyyyy too short . Planning another trip in 18 months !!!
thanks to all for the help |
So, which markets did you go to and what did you like/dislike about them? :)

Did Portobello Market and it rained. So 95% of the stores were closed. Covent market was fun, but was a tad touristy. Next trip I 'll have to dedicate 2 days just to flea market hopping.
