Hi Pal and all. I can certainly let anyone quoted know their quote--just shoot me an email at [email protected] or ask when you respond to my initial email letting you know that you were quoted.

Pal-- I have to run to a meeting but if your quote isn't posted by the time I get back (stoke sounded like they were on a mission) I will find it and post it.

Thanks a bunch Katie!

And to paraphrase the words of some famous person -"any guidebook that would quote me is not worth the paper it is printed on"

"I cannot imagine Flanner getting anywhere near a tacky beach resort but if you say so"

Anyone who thinks Brighton's a tacky beach resort's obviously never been there.

And what's a prefix?

For Britain Brighton is not a tacky seaside resort - flannerpooch should have said.

Not for England but on the Continent it would be called a dump - with a broken in half pier and all.

It ain't no Bournemouth nor Blackpool

flanner, I think it's the opposite of a suffix.

Katie, thanks. It really is a good book, and would you be the editor of the Peak District part? Good information.

If I were editing the book, I'd allow "quintessential" a little less often; it's one of those words. Tell them people are starting to complain.

"But the rhetoric he came up with that appears in the prefix" is the opposite of suffix?

Nah. The opposite of suffix is essexes. And if you're calling the Boss an Essex boy, you'd better watch out.

If I don't get you hand off first, he'll give you a bloody good upbraiding.

Pal-- your post opens the Lancashire & the Peaks chapter:

"I happily walked by Manchester's Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI), occupying an incredible collection of old warehouses and old factories, all miraculously melded into this vast museum. I first was struck by a cavernous wrought-iron market hall that now houses the Air and Space Museum."

The editors really like including WOM, but as you can imagine, our search makes it difficult. We're definitely keen for the arrival of the upgraded search of our new forums.

I didn't write the Peak District info but I'll pass the kudos along.

The "quintessential" comment has also been noted.

Did it hurt much?

I'm in the budget travel section toward the front of the book.

I'm scheming how to get my trip report noticed by the judges. Unfortunately I already promised to make the Peak Dist look bad to deter would-be Americans in buses.

London will probably be tricky to say anything original about.

That leaves Brighton. Maybe swipe tod's and change it around a little.

You take up half of one of the orange bordered Important Quotes pages, Pal.

I found Lee Ann's and nona's on the same page, too, with good tips.
