Going to Barcelona in October and would like to see a show, Concerned about a smoke-filled room as my husband has allergies,

Is there a chance that auto-correct played a trick on you when typing the headline?

Auto-correct just replaced "Kimhe" with Kimberly. Kimhe is our expert.

Auto-correct is when your computer or phone 'corrects' (changes) a word you are typing (and frequently 'corrects' it to a word that you didn't want). There is an automatic corrector embedded in many programs.

I prefer the Tablao de Carmen, as I found it MUCH easier to see the dancers' feet at that venue. JMO.

No smoke-filled rooms in any flamenco venues these days, apart from perhaps in the occasional private peña/flamenco club. No smoking in bars, restaurants and public spaces in Spain.

kja has given you great advice. Both Tablao Córdobés and Tablao de Carmen stage only top of the shelf artists. Always all the elements: song, guitar and male and female dancer. The greatetst flamenco artists also tour Barcelona theaters all the time. The program is updated here:

And the footwork is of course very important in flamenco dance, but much (often most) goes on from waist up. That technically is not correct.
Smoking is permitted on restaurant, bars and cafe terraces
Hotels are also allowed designated smoking bedrooms.
I am not going to go into all the regulations on this.

However, it is the smog from the amount of diesel engined vehicles in Spain that is a problem. That should be on your mind more than anything else.

Depending where you are from, you may find more second hand smoke than usual. Take antihistamines, or perhaps have husband discuss an inhaler with his doctor for this trip. As inside is restricted smoking, you can at least move to avoid the outside smoke.

I have to laugh...I couldn't get my best friend to stop saying "flamingo" for flamenco and she was speaking, not having autocorrect problems!

We went to the Tablao de Carmen show in May 2017 and loved it. We've seen flamenco performances a number of times, both in Seville (although many years ago) and more often in San Francisco CA near where we live. The Tablao performance was gorgeous, both in terms of the dancers and the musicians. We got the tapas menu and found it adequate.

Calling flamenco flamingo was much more common years ago. I still see Granada referred to as Grenada, which is about 4,000 miles away.

I agree that one would do well to see ALL of a flamenco dancer’s body, and all of the musicians, too – something that I could do at the Tablao de Carmen. In contrast, I could only see parts of any dancer’s body or that of any of the musicians at the Tablao Cordobes when seated, and could generally see feet or legs only if I stood (which did not eliminate all obstructions to my lines of sight). And I couldn’t fully see the musicians at the Tablao Cordobes even if I stood. I enjoyed what I saw at both; my experience at the Tablao de Carmen was memorable for all the right reasons.

Oh, my! I think I may have misspoken!!! I, uh ... LOVE seeing the stunning costumes donned by flamenco dancers, male and female, costumes that IME, provide coverage consistent with normative standards of decency.

I hope I have now navigated my way out of the troubled waters into which I had inadvertently ventured!
