Flamenco in Seville Casa la Memoria

Greetings!

I'm set on adding a flamenco night to our visit in Seville. I've seen Casa la Memoria mentioned a lot as a great place to enjoy an hour of pure dance . Without unnecessary food and drink combos.

While researching, I usually try to see images available on Google, TA, etc. And many of the images had a nice patio courtyard type of place (with a small wooden stage in the middle and arches in the background ) labeled "Casa la Memoria". It appeared as a nice intimate and atmospheric location. However, on other photos the stage is set inside the building and it appears to be longer with rows of seats facing it on one side. Has Casa la Memoria moved from their old location? It also seems that the courtyard with arches is now where Casa de la Flamenco is. Am I getting this right? Did this two Casas switched locations? Has anyone been to the new Casa la Memoria location (Calle Cuna, 6). Aside from enjoying the dance, the location / ambiance is a big part of the experience for me, so I am kind of wondering if the new location is nice (as nice as the courtyard one).

Casa la Memoria location at Cuna 6 + dinner at Cuna 2-Baco restaurant make sense for us as this is about 10-15min walk from our hotel. Just wanted to see if this would be our best option for Flamenco night.

Would appreciate any advice!

Kim is the flamenco expert and I'm sure will clarify the address for you.

We went there last October and the performance was electrifying. We lined up early and had a front row seat...close enough to touch the performers ( no, we didn't, lol). If I went again I'd sit a few rows back.

Ambience? No - none at all, but great flamenco - absolutely!

You're right, La Casa del Flamenco is now where Casa de la Memoria was before. Both places are great artists, no drinks, no food, just flamenco for one hour. Haven't been to Casa de la Memoria since it moved, but the old venue (where La Casa del Flamenco is now) is quite nice/atmospheric. http://www.lacasadelflamencosevilla.com/

Changing artists all the time, but great dancers such as "El Junco", Alberto Selles, Lucia Alvarez "La Piñona" and Luica Palicio performs frequently in La Casa del Flamenco.

I also recommend the Thursday, Friday and Saturday night performances in the cutting edge Flamenqueria center in C/Castilla, 94, right by the Guadalquivir river on the Triana side. And promising young talents perform most Tuesdays/Wednesdays: http://www.flamenqueria.es/es/

Thank you both, immimi and kimhe.

so I did get it right about Casa la Memoria moving to the new location. I'm glad to hear that both of these places would make a good option for a flamenco night. I just have to figure out whether I should go for the one closer to the hotel (alas, less charming looking) or use a taxi to the Casa del Flamenco (and find another dinner option ;)).

kim, the artists in the youtube videos are amazing. I guess we can't really know who's to perform until much closer to the actual date.

The schedule and artists performing in La Casa del Flamenco is updated here: http://www.lacasadelflamencosevilla....genda_completa

The monthly program/artists in Casa de la Memoria is here: http://www.casadelamemoria.es/agenda/

The two venues are some half a mile apart, and I don't think any taxi will be able to get you through the narrow passages around La Casa del Flamenco.

Close to La Casa del Flamenco, I have a soft spot for Las Teresas, excellent tapas and very "Sevilla": http://azahar-sevilla.com/sevilletap...8/las-teresas/

kimhe, thank you for the links to the schedule.

after a full day of sightseeing (and I expect a lot of walking), I thought taking a few taxis to & from the flamenco places would be our best bet. I assumed a minibus would be useless. But now i see that taxis might not get us too close either. Checked it's 1.4km from the hotel to Casa del Flamenco / 650m to the Casa de la Memoria. If it has to be done on foot, then the closer the better.

<the closer the better>, and Casa de la Memoria is an excellent choice.
