I can help confirm artists if it's not too far off.

Some famous touring solo artists perform locally and it would be great to help you see them. That said, in Madrid most shows have excellent level professional shows
while well known dancers rotate venues or tour on & off.
You can't lose in Madrid 😃

1. Flamenco Leones ( I have not been yet its newish but I have seen Jonatan Miro elsewhere he's amazing) Jonatan tours but performs pretty frequently since he also manages & directs the show.

2. Flamenco 1911 is a theater type setup so no food pressure & a good show generally speaking.
Good sightlines.
I love the misicians they engage here. Good location for walking in old center Madrid to Santa Ana or Puerta del Sol

3. Corral de la Moreria is the most prestigious and therefore guarantees flamenco " figuras" like Eduardo Guerrero, Maria Moreno or Belen Lopez but it's traditional tablao configuration doesn't have the better sightlines line the newer theater type setups. I still love it though and dinner plus show ( while pricey) are both excellent. Dinner not mandatory but helps get better seats. LMK if you opt to go here.

4. Teatro Flamenco Madrid is more theaterlike.
A friend performs there sometimes Annabel Moreno
a fantastic dancer. I have only been to the Granada location as the Madrid location is new but suspect similar with no emphasis on food & theater configurations. I can ask her & confirm that for you.

5. If you want up close....the more commercial but fun & interesting Tablao La Carmela is also centrally located. I would ask for SECOND table from stage. It is smaller. Dinner is offered in a separate dining room & not necessary.
Again petformers here can vary but director Andres Maya always there.

Long established El Arenal is old school Tablao
Set up is traditional.


Also good but more theater style Tablao Las Setas.

MUSEO DE FLAMENCO is small and good; also LA CASA DE MEMORIA.

As a big fan of flamenco, I don’t recommend El Corral De La Moreria. It’s over priced, not personal, and over rated since many reviews come from tourists. The last ones I experienced that I can recommend are flamenco 1911 and flamenco esenttial

My vote goes for Corral de la Moreria.

She said she does not want a dinner show, so I'd scratch Corral de la Moreria.

Please choose El Corral de la Morería, the very best, by far, tablao flamenco in Madrid and one of the best in the WHOLE country. And amsdon, believe me, knows her flamenco, like no-one else!
Plus the cuisine at El Corral de la Morería, by Michelin-starred Basque chef, David García, is divine, if one wants to dine BEFORE the show.

As to "not personal", I haven't sensed that at all. I first went to El Corral de la Morería in 1972, and it´s been the foremost flamenco venue in Madrid for many, many years. It attracts the very best flamenco performers. And I´m not a tourist. I live in Madrid.

We had a marvelous dinner there with amsdon and her lovely husband, with flamenco great, Eduardo Guerrero as the star, to whom amdson introduced us, and he´s incredibly charming. And what a spectacular performer. Wow, wow, wow!!! We recently saw him at the Teatros del Canal. The Corral de la Morería is truly the BEST flamenco tablao in Spain. I can´t recommend it highly enough. The Corral de la Morería attracts the very best flamenco performers bar none.
I am headed tomorrow to Jerez yet again for an entire week of flamenco performances at the International Flamenco Festival and many performers there have performed at El Corral de la Morería.

One does NOT need to go for dinner! One can go just for the performance.
But as for dinner there for those we want do dine elsewhere, we did NOT have dinner DURING the show, which is extremely important. Dinner finished BEFORE the show so that spectators can focus entirely on the performance. Flamenco there is NOT AT ALL like a US dinner theater.

As to Sevilla flamenco, over many years we've enjoyed Casa de la Memoria, Alvarez Quintero and Museo del Flamenco by founded by legendary flamenco artist, Cristina Hoyos. We have Las Setas on our to-do list on our next Seviila visit. I would definitely skip the original Los Gallos.

The annual Flamenco Festival in Jerez is happening now & runs through March 7. In addition to courses, there are many performances & " parallel" events for yhe public. People from all over visit Jerez for this festival. Here's the official site.

After re-reading this, I am sorry we missed El Corral de la Morería in Madrid. The Michelin star restaurant there is small, and difficult to get a reservation, so book well in advance if this is what you want to do.

We just returned from a month in Spain, mostly in Adalucia, the Costa de la Luz, Marbella, and Madrid. Let me tell you about rain! Another day maybe. We did go to see 2 flamenco shows in Sevilla, and I will heartily endorse the Museo del Baile Flamenco. We also saw a show at Alvarez Quintero, which was very good many years ago, but this time around, we found it amateurish and without soul. Sadly.

Perhaps the OP will weigh in with her experiences with flamenco in Madrid and Sevilla.

Where did you visit on the Costa de la Luz? I'll be there in about two weeks; I've heard pretty dismal reports about the condition of certain roads due to the rains.....I hope you at least had some rays of sunshine!

Continuing the Flamenco conversation.......

It appears the frequent question here to be " where best to see flamenco in Madrid ?". In other words which place or venue?
When speaking of the " tablaos" I still emphasize that while the " place" is always important from a touristic perspective
( location, configuation of seats & siteline, dining versus no dining and of course price) I STILL want to remind readers that flamenco is an artform and therefore the artists are paramount.

A while back Tablao de la Carmela was recommended on this thread. I enjoy that place very much but I consider the show " touristy". ( Not necesssrily a bad thing I know my flamenco though and am a retired performer)

It is an intimate cave line space in Madrid smack in the old center not far from Puerta del Sol & Plaza Santa Ana.. The restaurant is a completely separate space.( We almost missed the start of the show) Food is nothing to write home about & dining not imperative but it usually gets you a far better table in tbe tablao.

While the show is often uneven artistically, director of show Andres Maya is excellent and hails from prestigious Granada gypsy lineage) He admitted to me that he's " very theatrical" and somewhat flambouant in his taste ( flames etc) . Lots of fun for people not heavily into flamenco. But fun for sure for anyone. In fact pure flamenco ( flamenco puro) may be a bit too heavy for some.

Still there can be surprises anywhere. Recently one of the line ups included some current superstars. The world famous Farruquito, EL Yiyi ( a current flamenco gypsy hearthrob ) accompanied director Andres Maya.
Wish I had been there!
