Fjords or Oslo?

This summer I will have a little over a day and a half for sightseeing on my own in Norway. The question is do I race to Bergen on Sat pm and take the Norway in a Nutshell trip back to Oslo on Sunday? Or just skip the fjord experience and explore Oslo? Monday will be with relatives north of Oslo in Hadeland.

You can take the NIN option as a RT starting and ending in Oslo.

Hi Payneful

The Fjords - and Bergen itself - win everytime for me !

I know both Bergen and the surrounding Fjords very well, having visited frequently - and also Oslo - while I wes living in Stockholm for a number of years.

Oslo is a nice city - though I far prefer Stockholm and Copenhagen - but the Fjords are beautiful and fascinating.

Don't miss the opportunity - you will regret it if you do.

Oslo is a cute town - and actually on a fjord - but not a very dramatic one - but is noting like as interesting as Stockholm or Copenhagen. If you want to see fjords - go for it (but IMHO one full day is enough).

Fjords, if you get to Oslo go see the viking ships

You don't have to go all the way to Bergen if you want to follow the Nutshell route. You can spend Saturday night in Myrdal or Voss and start the trip to Flam from there. Or you can do the entire Nutshell starting and returning to Oslo on Sunday. Oslo has its charms but the fjords are stunning.
