Five in a room in London Hotel?
 

My daughter, son-in-law and their 3 young children are planning on spending several nights in London this June but would like to have the whole family in one room because of the children's ages. Does anyone know of a hotel that will accommodate them? Four seems to be the limit for the number of people in one room.

They might be better looking at an apartment than trying to stuff 5 people into a tiny hotel room. A much better choice with kids - since you can at last have breakfast and snacks there.

Are the 3 kids young enough that they can all share a double bed or sofa bed?

Yes, they are and have done so in the past. My daughter is afraid if the hotel sees 5 people instead of 4 they'll make them take another room.

She should ask for "Family Rooms" and how much people (including kids) they can accept. She must not arrive at the hotel and "see what happens". Usually family rooms cater for 4 people, but if the kids are very young maybe they can have 5, but she has to tell them, if you don't, even if they can accept the five people, they are allowed to tell you no .
I still think that they will be much more comfortable in an apartment even if it is just a one bedroom one.

Most hotels in Europe will not accomodate more than 3 people in one room. I believe that's due to fire laws regarding occupancy, among other things. I'd recommend looking into an apartment instead. Just yesterday, there was a post here that mentioned an apartment in Chelsea that sounded very nice and reasonable. I will try to pull it up for you. GOod luck!

She actually has looked into apartments but hasn't found anything suitable yet. Any ideas of where to look for an apt? This will be her husband's first London visit so they want to hit the high points - probably near a double decker tour bus stop.

You can try the Holiday Inn Kensington. We have a quad room with our two kids there for March. I hear they have the "family rooms" that you are looking for.

Many (most?) hotels make a distinction between adults and children. The Marriott by Grosvenor Square has accommodated friends with a room with queenish size bed for the parents, fold out sofa for the 2 littlest kids and a roll-away for the 9 year old. I'm sure many other hotels will do the same as long as we are talking about little kids and not teenagers.
