Five days to plan-where should we go?

We have a trip planned for France the end of May & are trying to decide whether to extend it another 5 days & take the train to London. We have been in London before a few times, but never out in the countryside. Haven't the foggiest idea of what to go see outside London. Any suggestions? Thanks

What's wrong with just staying in France???

If you have not visited Engand in awhile, the cost of travel there will surprise you.

Where are you flying into and out of -- Paris?? And where are you going in France? For how long?

Whether it makes sense to go to England depends on a lot of factors and you haven't given use enough details.

There are LOTS of places in England that would make a good 5 days excursion - but whether any make sense for your itinerary depends . . . . .

I have been looking for airfare & found a reasonable flight to London. We have two weeks planned in France, one in Paris & one driving around the Loire valley & Normandy. I realize the train through the tunnel will eat up some of the money we will save by landing in London as opposed to Paris, but we thought we would get to see the countryside of Great Britain instead of always staying in London. This was a-spur-of-the-moment idea. Am I getting looney from all this research?

OK - we need more - which London airport is the reasonable flight in to??

That would make a fairly big difference re what areas of the UK are convenient to get to.

i.e.: LHR - then it would be easy and quick to pick up a rental car and head west into the Cotswolds. Stansted - then you could rent a car and go NE of London into Suffolk/Norfolk. And so on.

I would also look for cheap flights into other airports like Bristol or Manchester. Heck, even Edinburgh or Glasgow would be good and you could tour a bit of Scotland.
