in Barcelona as well!
I remember arriving at Cerveceria Catalana at 9:00 - the place was jammed ( we had to wait 40 minutes!) and they were hardly all tourists. As a matter of fact, we ended up having a conversation with some locals waiting in line, it was kind of funny - we spoke to them in Spanish, they spoke to us in English!

If you're visiting small towns and it's not the weekend you may find restaurants closed by 11pm! I visited Ronda last year and by 10pm on a Sunday and Monday night most restaurants had already closed - and not just in the more "touristy" area of Ronda across the bridge by the bullring. Of course, it would be different on weekends. So I believe it's quite a generalization (by city and day of the week)to say that dinner starts around 11pm.

The best information I found for my trip to Madrid and other cities in Spain was at www.maribelsguides.com.
I loved Madrid in my two short visits there, and especially enjoyed flamenco at Casa Patas: www.casapatas.com.
