Hi Annabelle - You can also contact the hotel where you will be staying, as they may be able to arrange for a car and driver to pick you up. It's definitely nice to be picked up at the airport and delivered right to your door after a long airplane ride. It's been my experience that the car and driver is usually even less than a taxi and much, much nicer. Have a wonderful time!!!

As Annabelle inquired about youth hostelers, I assume that budget is a concern. If it is (or even if it's not), Sheila is right, we found the train to be easy, quick, and inexpensive.

Thanks everyone, I will probably go with the train. Arriverdercci!!

I've taken the train from the airport to Rome both times I flew into Rome and wouldn't do it any other way. It cost ~L13,000, much cheaper than a taxi if you are travelling on a budget. You can either buy your tickets from the automatic machines or from the agency near the tracks. I stayed at the YWCA Casa per Studentesse 5 blocks from the station toward the Colosseum. It has hostel style accommodations and double rooms. You may want to go to the forums at eurotrip.com for more hostel information.
