fishy Paris
Hiya
Got any recommendations for good, reasonably-priced seafood/fish restaurants in Paris? Many thanks gtg |
I just had to open this thread to see what was fishy in Paris! LOL
How about La Mediterranee across from the Odeon Theatre. |
aha! caught you with my title bait! Thanks, adrienne -- I think that's near where we're staying too, so I'll check it out.
Le Bar a Huitres on Blvd St Germain, also one at Bastille are moderately priced and reliably good. Also Royal Turenne on rue de Turenne and Le Escallier du Bistrot on rue Paul Bert.
Also the Atlas on rue de Buci
What would I do without you! In fact, our friends are staying in an apartment on rue de Buci, so that might be perfect.
Many thanks to all of you. |
Fish La Boissonnerie on rue de Seine, near rue de Buci, also.
many thanks, gm.

The best prices are at the various chains; Leon de Bruxelles, Vin et Maree and Le Bar a Huitres. To add to the confusion, Fish does not specialize in fish. If you want shellfish platters, try La Rontonde, where you can get platters for two that start at around 60 Euros. Marius et Janette has one at 150 Euros! Good luck.
I'll note those names, oakglen, thanks. This is partly because we're trying to eat sensibly and fish is always good for that but also because one of the couples we'll be dining with keeps kosher so fish works well for both of us (they'll decline the shellfish but we won't!)
Almost every restaurant or cafe /bistro will offer a fish dish. In fact I can't ever remember not seeing fish offered. Someone already mentioned Fish does not specialize in fish!
I still highly recommend the <b>Rendezvous de la Marine</b> at 14 quai de la Loire. Very small place that opens at 19h30 and it is one of the only places that I frequent in Paris where one actually has to make a reservation.
I'm writing them all down but Les Debats looks a little to pricey for a pore country girl lak me. I knew as soon as I saw the picture!
The seafood dome at http://www.petit-zinc.com/index_en.html
Second on http://www.la-mediterranee.com/ and Leon de Bruxelles Enjoy your visit. ((I)) |
Thanks, ira. Nice you see you and your Lady Wife on Coco's video. Hope she's well. Say hi for us.
Bofinger!
Le Dome (Montparnasse) or its sister restaurant Le Bistrot du Dome. Le Petit Zinc, as mentionned, is another.
Now if only we had an inkling as to what goddesstogo thinks is a reasonable price for a meal.
Here is the price for the place I recommended (should have given it at the same time, I know): <i>Prix : A la carte (entrée + plat + dessert) 23 - 35 € (boissons comprises) Menu déjeuner 12 €</i> There are usually 5-6 sorts of fish on the menu. |
Thanks for the clarification, kerouac. I obviously read the website incorrectly because I thought it said that the plat (not the full 3 courses) was 23 to 25 euros which would have made it a pretty pricey place. It's back on the list!
No,no, wait -- it was Le Debats that was too expensive. The 3 course fixed price meal there (if I'm understanding the website correctly) is 79 euros.
I must be overtired. |
Kerouac: Can you supply any contact info for Rendezvous de la Marine? My feeble Internet search did not turn up anything more than a couple of passing mentions -- perhaps it is too small for a website or other reviews.
Fish doesn't specialize in Fish? You could have fooled me. I've been there a few times, and would have ordered something other than fish, had it been on the menu. I was with fish eaters, but I'm not really a fish lover.
Southam, it is definitely too small to have a website.
Au Rendez-Vous de la Marine 14 quai de la Loire, 75019 PARIS tél 01 42 49 33 40 Here is a French site that mentions it: http://www.cityvox.fr/restaurants_pa...71/Profil-Lieu |
TripAdvisor reviews are mixed:
http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restauran...de_France.html |
Aren't Trip Advisor reviews always mixed?
The restaurant is called Fish becaue it was originally the site of a Poissonnerie, a fish monger, and had a beautiful tile front. They changed the P to B so now it is called Fish Le Boissonerie
avalon, I knew all that, but still thought Fish was what the specialized in serving. As I said, when I ate there more than once, fish was what was on the menu.
