Fishing near Invergordon

We have a day in Invergordon while on a cruise. My husband would like to take a half or full day fishing trip there, but the cruiseline doesn't offer any fishing excursions. Does anyone have a suggestion?
Thank you.

This site does mention fly fishing in its list of activities/tours
http://www.shorexcursions.co.uk/

Or a long shot, but maybe worth a try -- phone the Kildary Angling Club and ask if they offer fishing for visitors - or if they know another way to arrange it. (0)1862 832494

Excellent idea from janisj, as usual.

As you no doubt are aware, there are few (no?) places in the UK where you can just walk down to the river and start fly fishing, even if you have the tackle. Almost all rivers are leased or owned by hotels, clubs, and landowners.

Thanks so much for the link and phone number. I appreciate it.

What a nice (and quick!) reply from Nigel at shorexcursions --

"Not far from the ship is a place called Stonyfield Lochs, where you can rent the equipment and fish for Rainbow and Brown Trout in lovely surroundings."

The Link for Stonyfield: http://www.stoneyfieldlochs.com/

Thanks again janisj.

Just for the record, whilsy Ackislander is correct about game fishing in Scotland, the same is not true about rough fishing.

3Doxens, are you happy with what janis found? Or do you want more contacts? I don't fish myself, but I put together a resource list for this web site a while ago.

Yes, Sheila, but since she specified fly fishing, I thought I wouldn't muddy the waters!

--Also got more information from Pauline at Stoneyfield:

Thank you for your enquiry about fishing,
We have a lovely Trout Fishery situated about 4 miles for Invergordon which can be reached in less than 10 minutes from Invergordon Port.
We have 3 lochs (total 15 acres) for fly fishing all very accessible from the banks. At present we offer a 3 hour sporting ticket ( catch & release ) plus full rod hire for £25, which my rise slightly next year.
As it is a Stillwater fishery the lochans are stocked frequently over the summer months with Brown Rainbow and Blue Tout. Its also a haven for wild life with lots of birds and ducks to be spotted so if you wanted to accompany your husband and have a walk around there is always something to see.-- I have just looked up from my laptop to see a Osprey dive in for a fish!! amazing to see but not so good for the profit margin!
If we may be of further assistance don't hesitate to email.
Best regards
Pauline Robertson

Sheila - Thanks for the offer. My husband is the fisherman, so I'm not even sure what "rough fishing" is. I know he does fly fishing and also uses "regular" rods sometimes.
Really, anything that puts him in a boat or on the shore keeps him happy.
