First visit to Venice
We will spend about 3 days in Venice in November. This is our first trip. Appreciate any ideas.

Peggy, if you enjoy art, take time to visit the various museums, churches, etc. There is so much outstanding art in Venice, but I don 't think most people associate Venice with great art. I particularly enjoyed the Accademia, the Guggenheim, Ca'd Oro, Il Fraio (SP? where Verde is buried & one of Titian's masterpieces is), & La Scuola de San Rocco - awesome! Just some suggestions in addition to the usual Doge's Palace, San Marco, gondola ride....

Dayle, I appreciate your good ideas. We are in the planning stage and all ideas are appreciated. What about a good, reasonable hotel. We will not have a car.

While there are many postings regarding the hotels of Venice (which you should delve into) I can recommend Locanda San Trovaso, a quiet seven room hotel in Dorsoduro priced a year ago at about 200,000 itl per night. You need also to allow spending at least a day or so losing yourselves in the city. There's nowhere like it.

Peggy <BR>I have a long file on Venice, if you'd like to see it, email me. <BR>You will need a good map <BR>"Streetwise Venice" is very good. <BR>And a good guidebook such as Fodor's or Michelin's Green Guide. <BR>don't wait to book a hotel if you haven't already--small popular hotels fill up months in advance. <BR>congratulations on your trip; I'm returning to Venice in Oct and I can't wait.
