First trip to Turkey - Izmir
Hey !
This autumn i a going to visit Turkey and particularly Izmir, and the region around it. Also maybe i will visit Istanbul, too. I would like some information to ask. I live in Athens , Greece. The transfer is possible by ship or by plane. I would like to recommend me websites where i can check all the possible prices and all of that information about the transportation from Athens to Izmir. In Turkey i will stay about 2-3 weeks. Do I need a passport; I had read that the trip from Greece to Turkey needs only the ID. Is that true? Also can someone tell me what papers should I have with me during my stay there. The currency conversion from euro to Turkish lira where and how that can be done? In the airport where i am living or when i arrive at izmir? Thanks! |
Hi Gareth,
Aegan Airlines flies between Athens and Izmir. As for what papers you need, its hard to tell without knowing your nationality. For good conversion rates, you best bet is to withdraw Turkish Liras from the ATM using your debit card. But make sure to convert some cash before you travel. Do you have an itinerary in mind? |
Ι live in Athens, Greece.
About my itinerary, i am thinking first visit Izmir, then the area, near the Izmir, and then i am thinking travelling in north Turkey , visit Instabul. Thanks |
From Izmir you can easily visit both anitiquites, Ephesus and Pergamon.
Look at skyscanner.net for flights. |
Yes. Thanks for that. I have checked.
The informations i would like to know is: 1) To travel from Greece to Turkey , i need passport or just with my nation ID i can enter? 2)What papers i must have during my staying in Turkey? |
What's your nationality?
I doubt that Turkey does not require a valid passport for a foreigner...but see if you find what you're looking for here: http://www.mfa.gov.tr/visa-informati...eigners.en.mfa |
Is there a specific reason you're going to Izmir? It is a good base to visit Ephesus and Pergamon.
But these are basically Roman and Greek ruins. I think if you live in Greece then you must have seen your share of ruins. Focus on Istanbul and Cappadocia. They are unlike anything you've seen on Greece. Stay 5 Days in Istanbul 3 Days in Cappadocia For rest of your time you have several choices. Do some research and see what interests you the most. |
I am going to Izmir , because i am going to visit a friend who lives there.
Of course i will try to visit Instabul and Cappadokia. But the first days i will stay in the Izmir area with my friend and then we will travel in other places in Turkey. |
