I'm really enjoying your report. And it's making me hungry!

Hey demmler67: Great report! Got to love Florence and you hit some great restaurants. Nerboni is a blast and the food is the best in the city for the money and local atmosphere. You know at the Westin you were within throwing distance of Sostanza. I mean JUST around the corner on Via della Porcellana. Also the street that Ghberti was born on and resided while constructing the Baptistry doors. Anyway. Great trip! Great report. Cheers.

I'm so impressed with all this detail, and the meal planning in particular. As with another poster, I neglected the food research in my trip prep for Rome and Florence because, unlike me, my hubby is not a foodie. I'm now planning a foodie trip back with another foodie friend and your report will be most useful. BTW, I rave about Context Rome tours: we did a great Vatican tour with them and the same one you did of the Forum, Palatine Hill and Colosseum. Not cheap, but really good value. Lastly, thanks for the packing notes. My next trip is to Paris and London (with DH and 2 kids) at Easter and I'm always looking for a good compromise between style and comfort.

demmler67,

Re all the Pinocchios in Florence - Carlo Collodi, the author of the story of Pinocchio, came from Florence.

Thank you so much for this trip review! Keep it coming- I can't wait to read more!

Love the packing notes- I'm certain I can handle a carry-on, but my husband has his doubts!

Hi demmler67,
Enjoyed your trip report very much. I have made notes on your restaurants. Did your room at Canali have a bathtub or just a shower stall??
Thanks!

Great report. I had been trying to decide between tour operators for a tour of the Vatican so your comments really helped. Loved the restaurant reviews too. Yumm!

one more thing...

our fave dinner in our 19 day stay was also La Giostra. I was apprehensive as many said it was "too this" or "too that". We had the most memorable night which I can remember every<?b> detail like it was yesterday.

We, too, regretted not going back for a second night.
