First trip to Rome
Hello,
I was doing some research for our trip and read that once you are in Rome for 3 day (we will be there for 8days) you need to register with the local police. Most of the time the hotel you are staying in takes care of that for you but we are staying in apartment. Can anyone give me more inforamtion on this. Thanks for the help. ruthca |
Don't worry about it. Either your apartment landlord will pass along your passport information to the Roman police, or they won't. The Roman police have a lot to do other than worry about you. (Like, worry about the creases in their pants. They are very stylish dressers.)
Sincerely. Enjoy your 8 days in Rome without thinking about it (but don't commit any crimes, almost impossible to do in Italy anyway since laws are ... well, meant to be broken.) |

... so true, Z!... hilarious (they also strut a lot!) stu |
But Stu you failed to mention how fantastic they look while strutting in their stylish uniforms! Ruthca, I agree, don't worry about registring with the police. I have never stayed in an apartment so I don't know if the landlords tradtionally record tenants passport information or not. I have stayed with various friends in their homes for a great length of time in Northern Italy and they advised it was really not necessary to register. Hotels are required to register all their guest with the police as you know. Have a lovely time in beautiful Rome!

I'll have the look for the uniform creases and make sure they did a good job.
I plan to have a great time and fall in love with Rome. Thanks for the info. ruthca |
hi ruthca,
we've stayed in apartments in Rome, Florence and Venice and never given it a 2nd thought. the one we stayed in in Rome was opposite a gelateria where the local cops stopped off every night for their fix of gelato. they were not interested in us. what I never established was whether they paid or not! regards, ann |
