>>>As for Beauborg, I'll go the Opera Bastille rather than IRCAM for my music and MOMA in New York for my modern art museum, thank you very much.<<<

Excellent advice. Because you can always go to the MOMA, everyone else should avoid the Pompidou.

We spent an entire afternoon at the Pompidou on our last trip and thought the exhibits were brilliant.

It definitely depends on what you like to do (history, art, eating!) but here are my top 3 recommendations for a newbie:

To see: The Eiffel Tower.... every time I go (5 times now!), I get goosebumps at my first glimpse of it.

To do: A night cruise with Vedettes-du-Pont-Neuf. The night we went it was cool and drizzly, but it was still one of the most enjoyable things I've done there.

To eat: Macarons! If you've never tasted them, beware, they are addictive!

I could name 10 in each category, easily. Paris is magical, enjoy your trip!

Thanks for all your suggestions. I have booked a ticket to the Opera Garnier Ballet and a macaroon class. A friend who lives in Paris is taking me to the Baron Rouge and a market, plus I will have dinner with them one night. As I am interested in Medieval history - I will be going to the Cluny Museum. Might try and go to St Denis to see the effigies.

Are you going to see Manon? I think you'll really like it!

The cast isn't posted yet, but if you're curious to know who will be dancing the night you go, keep checking the website. On the left side, where it says "more about the production", eventually there will be a link underneath "see the entire cast". (it probably won't be posted until a couple of weeks before the run begins)
