First trip to London

Thanks to get your suggestion for staying in Stanley House Hotel at Belgrave Road, near Victoria Coach Station. Shall be there first time next end December for a week. I need budget price lodging in safe area and get clean room, can I get it at this hotel? Are there many restaurants / cafes and shops around hotel?

I stayed at Norfolk Plaza Hotel and liked it. Not too far away from anything, via a short tube ride.

www.norfolkplazahotel.co.uk

Chrysant: To answer your question about Stanley House - I have not stayed there but have walked past it many times. It is in a good, safe location and you will be fine. It seems to be well cared for - which is never a guarantee - but would indicate the rooms are OK. There are many cafes / restaurants / pubs nearby and you will have good access to the tube and buses.

Please do take into consideration that Stephanie was in London about 17 years ago.
Janis, thanks for your informstion.
Steph, I prefer places near Victoria Coach Station to get easy access to outside London using bus that look cheaper than train.
