Lynda_ann,

I'm a dubliner myself and would say a few nights here are a must obviously.
Best pint of guiness in Dublin is in a small, non touristy pub called Mulligans for your valuable information. Would recommend the Stags Head pub also for an eveninh pint, its a bit hard to ffind but along dame street there is a mosiac of a stag's heaad and its down a small lane from there.

Your interest in history will be well taken care of in Dublin!

Kilkenny is very lovely, as is West Cork, Kerry (obviously)and Galway.
If you are in Galway and have a car I would highly recommend a drive out through Connemara to Maam Cross and then out to Leenane (stop for lunch)and then take the most beautiful route in Ireland from Leenane to Louisberg on the R335, and then stop after for the night at Westport - lovely town.

Its a fabulous drive, and not to be missed if you are round that neck of the woods.

If you can't do that, then take a drive out the coast road of connemara; very pleasant indeed.

For history, I'd highly recommend Newgrange. It's an easy expedition from Dublin.
