First timer to Paris
This is our first time to Paris and we plan to stay there for 4 and a half days before heading for Marseille.
Any suggestions on what to do and see there? It's better if a daily itinerary can be provided. Thanks in advance! |
Get a street map and pick one or two major things to do for each day. Start walking... seriously Paris is easy to see this way.
Here's a sample of one day we did... From the Latin Quarter take the Metro up to the Eiffle Tower. Head back by way of Arc de Triomphe, the Tuileries, along the Seine. Stop for lunch at a sidewalk cafe mid-day. Another day... walk to Notre Dame, then the Louvre, with a mid-day stop to picnic in Luxembourg gardens. Like that. |
It would be better if you got some guidebooks and read about what you would like to see and do first. If you still can't form an itinerary come back here and list what your interests so others can help you plan.

Here's a link to Frommers' and Fodors' suggested itineraries, which might provide a starting point: http://www.frommers.com/destinations...062010007.html

flsd,
Thanks for those two links. They give me a very good start point to write up my own daily plan. cheers and have a nice day (or night)! |
Day one: Ride the red open-top bus for an overview of the city. You can hop-on, hop-off at all the major sites. It's a great way to get a feel for the city. Stop & see the Notre Dame. In the afternoon take Marais Walk (2hours) from the Fat Tire Bike Company.
Day Two: Eiffel Tower. Get there early to avoid the big crowds. Ride the elevators to the top. In the afternoon, the Musee d'Orsay for some great impressionist paintings. Day Three: In the mornign The Louvre. Have the afternoon to explore the streets, bridges, artists, stores, etc. Take a cruise down the Seine in the evening to see the sites as the sun goes down. Day 4: Day trip to Verseille. Go early to beat the crowds. See the rooms, see the gardens. In the afternoon, The Champs Elysee, Rue Madeline...Galleries Lafayette.... Just some ideas. Don't forget to leave time for leisurely meals & people watching. |
If anyone's a teacher, don't forget to bring some kind of ID card -- you can get into many museums for free on certain days. Nice perk.
