Was wondering if anybody can help me out with regards to the schengen visa

I am landing from Mumbai in Rome and spending 7N, 8D in Italy
On the 8th Day I travel into Switzerland
then I spend 7N , 7D in Switzerland and travel to Paris on the 7th day..

Is the 8th day when i leave Italy and enter Switzerland counted as 1 day?

In that case, I will have equal time in Italy and Switzerland...and hence I should be applying for Visa at Italian Embassy and not Switzerland since I enter Schengen area through Italy?

I read a couple of places that the Italian Embassy is tough to navigate...I checked on their website..very badly designed.they take 30 days to approve whereas on the Swiss embassy they mention 5-15 and everything is so clear there..

Should I change my itinerary around to see that I land in Switzerland first and then go to Italy?

Is it true that getting a Schengen visa from Italy

I plan to do Pilatus, Jungraugoch and Schilthorn and Lake Brienz, Lucerne and Trummelbach falls when in Switzerland. If time permits will do couple of museums and montreux via golden pass!>

Unless unable physically do at least some gentle hiking like the famous popular Ridge Walk from Kleine Scheidegg to Mannlichen - a gentle walk along a ride separating the Lauterbrunnen and Grindelwald valleys - view down into each and the Jungfrau Massif high above (walking from Mannlichen to Kl Scheidegg is preferred to me because you then face the Jungfrau Massif as you walk - otherwise it will be at your back - Mannlichen is a renown outlook point with awesome vistas over much of central Switzerland and Interlaken far below wedged between the two lakes bookending it.

Do at least an easy hike - from Mannlichen to can take cable cars down to Wengen (for trains to Lauterbrunnen) or vice versa from Wengen to Mannlichen - Ke Scheidegg is where trains to the Jungfraujoch depart so that can be part of a lovely lovely day - hike Mannlichen to Kl Scheidegg, train to Jungfraujoch and back down to Lauterbrunnen via Wengen by train.

Neerav
We have completed our Europe tour without any hiccups. We did as follows:
Cardiff 2 nights
London 3 nights
Paris 3 nights
Lucerene 3 nights
Lauterbrunnen 3 nights
Zermatt 2 nights
St Moritz, Lugano and Milan each 1 night as transit halt for Glazier Exp and BE.
Rome 3 nights.
London, Paris and Rome were mainly for touristy activities.
Been to the main sights.
Of course Swiss experience is different. No city tours and only mountains, waterways and falls besides the Train experience. Both GE and BE are unique in their own way and simply superb. We really enjoyed the stay in CELERENA which is in memorable.
We did not do the Mannlichen -Klien Scheidegg hike and what a miss.

Neerav, I do not know about the Italian VISA. But the SWISS VISA experience was a breeze. We got it within 5/6 days but the papers have to be very supportive. All the arrangements to be 100% done and a well documented itinerary will help you a lot. I hope you would have got your VISA by now. What is your experience.
