First time to Rome

Two 20-something guys heading to Rome for springbreak in March. Need advice on great cheap eateries...pasta, pizza...love to eat.

I'd recommended looking for inexpensive places to eat in Trastevere. Good place to be in the evening anyway as there are always lots of younger people there.

There's a pizzeria/spaghetteria with no name on Via Giubbonari off of Campo dei Fiori. I love their pizza. Also, Il Duca, an hostaria in Trastevere on Viccolo dei Cinque.

Mario's, Via del Moro in Trastevere. Very authentic, inexpenseive restaurant in an area filled with young people.

My favorite is Pizzaria Remo, in the center of Testaccio. Take the Metro to Piramide and ask any local. Its about a three block walk. Remo rocks every night.

To get an idea of hotels and prices in Rome as chosen by Fodorites, click "Hotels" above, then choose Rome. A list of hotels will come up. Ask to re-list them by price. You can also read reviews written by people who have stayed at each hotel.

You can do the same for the restaurant listings. You can also re-organize the search by location to find restaurants near your hotel. I have found the restaurant reviews and picks in this Fodor's listing to be accurate for Rome and other cities.

Lonely Planet also has a website and a book, they are especially good on low-cost travel.
