First time to Paris - best place to stay?

I'd appreciate advice about which of the following are the best place to stay for a first timer to Paris:

Hotel de Fleurie
Hotel le Regent
Hotel Britannique

I'll be there late August 2005

Check your earlier posting.

I would pick by neighborhood, more than by specific hotel. Which arrondisements are these located in?

The first two hotels are located in the 6th district; the last hotel is in the 1st district.

I'd choose Le Regent out of the three just for its great location in the heart of St. Germain and just next to rue de Buci. Based on remarks here I would go for either the luxury or luxury superior rooms as the standard size is very small even for Paris.

Britannique's regular double rooms are pretty tiny too, around 12 sq. m. more or less. Same with the de Fleurie I believe unless you reserve a higher category room.

I'd go with LeRegent. Although that's the only one of the three I've stayed in, I also like its location the best of the three.
You should be able to get a 20% summer reduction for August there (and yes they do have AC), but I agree -- go for a superior room.
