short answer: sure! just pick 1 or 2 things to see. And take a ride down th eSeine at night for the lights and views. When I planned my trip here, I used the Hotels tab here and the visitor reviews to find a modest hotel with good results.

Thank you Tom:) I decided on this hotel after reading various recommendations for it on these boards. It will be a 3 generation trip...myself, my teenage daughter and my mother. So the hotel looked perfect for that! DD and I have been to Paris before, but my mother has not. I look forward to finding that patisserie!

Among all the great tips you'll find around here, I'll just offer one idea for dinner. We found Restaurant Perraudin, 157 Rue St Jacques near the Sorbonne, to be very good, welcoming, AND fun. The crowd seemed to be Parisians, not tourists, but it's hardly unknown to travelers. They don't take reservations, although you can call ahead if you like. We showed up with 8 people, expecting to wait a while - among us were two who had been there two nights earlier. The owner remembered them and had other people shift around to make a table for 8 and nobody batted an eye. Looking around to see if reviews are still good, I found these, the first on the website of a guy named Tom who is NOT me. http://troi.cc.rochester.edu/~tdip/Restaurants.html Thr second is from from from Frommers. http://www.frommers.com/destinations/paris/D41302.html And this is Perraudin's listing: http://www.restaurant-perraudin.com/ |
