First time to paris...4day stay..what to do?

Hello to all....
I will be heading to Paris in August for four days ...myself and my daughter.... any thoughts on what to do and WHERE TO STAY... we are on a TIGHT budget. Thanks everyone!

Please define the budget in € so we can make some recommendations. It's meaningless to say 'tight' as that can mean anything...

You can start by doing a search above as there are tonnes of threads already on this topic and you don't have to wait for replies...

One more thing... I have been looking into hostels with private rooms... any thoughts on these. I have never traveled in Europe and hostels are new to me... are they safe? Clean? I have heard very good things about them and the price is VERY appealing.

Thanks Jamikins.... you're right... tight budget covers a big range. I was hoping for something under 75 Euros per night.

That is a very tight budget for Paris but we always stay here http://www.cosmos-hotel-paris.com/fr,1,6436.html

You will find more options if you can stretch it to €100 but cosmos should be in your budget.

Hi there

So glad you asked the question because I am also going to Paris for 4 days in the first week of September and I am a student. I found this accommodation though - Studio Parisien, and it's 80 euro's per night. You will have to fork out 300 euro as a deposit, not sure if that will be a problem.

You can get it on booking.com.

There is no one answer about staying in hostels. Same as hotels, some are really nice, some are just OK, some are really bad. You need to read reviews on the specific places you are considering.

As far as where to stay... Look for something in the most central area you can afford 4th, 5th, or 6th arrondisements are what most people would consider the center of Paris.

Have you thought about trying couchsurfing and go to sleep in a parisian's house, some people offers a room for a few euros : like airbnb.com.
It's a good opportunity to meet parisians; you can also book dinner with parisians with a website like voulezvousdiner.com

Looks like you are getting your budget room question answered. There are over 1,500 hotels in Paris so you do have a choice.

What to do? What do you like to do when to travel to other places. Show an interest in something so people won't be sending you to strip clubs if you want to see churches.

Get a good guidebook. The Michelin Green for Paris is my favorite. The Lonely Planet publications are also very good.
