First time to Mykonos - Help!!

My friend and I will be going to Mykonos in July for the first time. We would appreciate any advice you can offer about hotels and places to go. We don't want to break the bank, however, we would like a fun hotel in a good location that is nice and clean. Also, are any of the other islands must-sees? We will be in the area for 8 days. Any information will be greatly appreciated by the two Texas girls.

Hi Kimberly,

Go and check out www.greektravel.com if you want an alphabetical listing of al the islands. We were in Mykonos last October and opted to stay in the main town rather then at the beach, but since you will be there in July you may want to reverse that. We stayed at the Carbonaki Hotel and though it was well located and had a nice pool the room was really damp and kind of smelly, (I don't recommend it). '
We went to Santorini as well which is really spectacular (We stayed at the Loucas.. fantastic view! $77 per night in October but probibly more in July) ,10 days is a long time to stay on one island. I hope you plan to book your hotels ASAP most of the top, budget spots are already starting to book up. Have a great trip.

Depending on your interest, the island of Delos is a short boat ride away. It's an ancient sacred island, but all you'd see are ruins. You'd need to read up on it to appreciate it.

Kimberly, when you get off that boat there will be hundreds of people clammering for you to stay at their hotel - just pick one - preferably close to the bus stop or on the hill. Then take the bus to *PARIDISE BEACH* - filled with young people. At about 5:00 the bar starts asking people to come dance and offers free drinks for those with the courage to dance on the bar. You will be partying all night and meet tons of people!

Thyra

Is the Carbonaki Hotel located in the Rochari district did the gentleman owner sit outside the main door all hours of the day and night?

If it is then we were suitably unimpressed. We actually moved to another hotel a litle higher up and close to the Belvedere. It was a wise move. If I find its net address I'll post it.

Jane
